I miss my mother. She is with the Lord now but I remember fondly the moments when she would show me affection. I honor her and your mother on this Mother’s Day week.
Mothers, you have been given divine instincts to love and care for your children. Our Father in heaven trusts you and has confidence in you because He has given you the assignment to nurture your children. He empowered you with ability to carry that assignment out. Mothers, you show warmth and love to your children. You spend time with them, listening to them and giving them personal attention.
Thank you mother, for willingly making the journey into the valley of the shadow of death to give us life. We are eternally grateful. Mothers, we love you, respect you, and honor you for working with God to bring us into this world. You are the vessel He chose to give us life.
Here are ten ways to show appreciation to your mother.
Tell her thank you for giving birth to you, raising you, and all the sacrifices she made to put you first. Let your thank you be specific. It will touch her heart.
Do a chore or project for her you know she wants done. She sacrificed so much for you for many years.
Pamper her by serving her a meal like breakfast in bed, taking her to a spa to get her nails done, or to get a massage.
Give her your full attention by talking to her, asking questions, and listen to what she says.
Show her affection by giving her a lingering hug and kiss. So many times she nourished you with warmth and love.
Sing of her attributes and character. Write a song and sing it to her. Afterwards give her the recording. She will treasure it.
Make her a card or calendar by cutting and pasting images of her and her children on paper or on an app on your phone or computer.
Create a family photo albumon CD or in a digital picture frame showing meaningful moments she enjoyed.
Sending her flowers is very popular but not very personal. However, if you were to put a private note with it, or better yet, a hand written letter, the flowers would have more impact.
The most common appreciation shown is taking your mother to lunch or dinner. If you do I would suggest a toast or prayer in honor of her to make it much more personal for her.
Here is what the Bible says about mothers.“Bold power and glorious majesty are wrapped around her (mother) as she laughs with joy over the latter days. Her teachings are filled with wisdom and kindness, as loving instruction pours from her lips. She watches over the ways of her household and meets every need they have. Her sons and daughters arise in one accord to extol her virtues, and her husband arises to speak of her in glowing terms… Charm can be misleading, and beauty is vain and so quickly fades, but the virtuous woman (mother) lives in wonder, awe, and fear of the Lord. She will be praised throughout eternity. So go ahead and give her the credit that is due,…” (Pro 31:25-31 Passion Translation. More scriptures for mothers.)
