An excerpt from the book Encounter...
The judge’s hammer fell with a loud bang. “Guilty as charged!” Those violent words pierced the atmosphere. The single mother dropped her head in her hands and wept. The tears rolled down her wrist and across the handcuffs that bond her.
“How can this be possible?” She said to herself. “I am innocent.”“What will happen to my children? Will I see them again?”
These thoughts ran violently through her mind, demolishing all that she believed and hoped for. That is when she distinctly heard the voice, “Do not fear! I am with you!”
The clarity of the voice shook to her core. She looked around and discerned the voice was God, and an hour later walked peacefully into her cell and into her “new normal.” The metal cell door forcefully slammed behind her.
"...For God has said, "I will never leave you;
I will never abandon you." Heb 13:5 GNT
The Bible is full of assurances that God will be with you, just like he told this single mother. Although He is always with everyone everywhere, He has promised to show us, or reveal, His presence. These are the most precious promises of the Bible, for they declare God's willingness to lower Himself to our level and to personally accompany us through life.
How privileged we are! While the world around us is filled with a terrible sense of loneliness and fear, you never are without the presence of your Protector and Provider.
When Isaac was forced to leave his lands and go to Beersheba because of his contentious neighbors, the Lord appeared to him that night and assured him:
"Fear not, for I am with you." Genesis 26:24 NKJV
Also, God promised Moses that he would not walk alone when he went back to Egypt to confront the evil Ramses. The God of the universe would go with him and help him every step of the way.
"Certainly, I will be with you." Exodus 3:12 KJV
Dozens of average men in the Bible received similar promises and did great things for the Lord. It is one of the great aspects of God’s story—He comes to help mortal man.
The same promises are recorded for your encouragement. God is with you, whatever your particular situation. Often, God manifests His presence to us in times of danger or trouble. And when God does manifest His presence, the situation changes.
This promise not only assures that God is with us but that miracles would result as well. "For the Lord your God is in your midst, the Mighty One, who will save. …I will deal with all who afflict you." Zephaniah 3:17, 19 NKJV
Nothing could give you more comfort and encouragement than to read and believe the promises of God's manifest presence with His people. Be encouraged God is with you to help you with all of life's trials. He wants to be there for you. God has promised to accompany you, freely giving you the benefits of His fellowship, His care, His provision and His strength.
How has this promise impacted you previously or during this season?
