"What made the Ark special to the Hebrews was that God revealed Himself in a cloud that floated above the mercy seat between the cherubim. Therefore, the Ark, not only symbolized, but was the manifest presence of God among His people.

To the Israelites, the Ark was sacred and the center of attention in the camp. They considered it to be God’s throne. It was at the Ark of the Covenant that Moses and other ancients met God face to face. They treasured it as their most prized possession because of God’s presence above it.

“When all the Israelites saw the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord coming into the camp, their shout of joy was so loud it made the ground shake!" 1 Samuel 4:5 NLT

The Ark, God’s manifest presence, was also Israel's secret weapon in combat. The armies of Israel would take this box with them to war. Joshua had the Ark carried into battle when he fought against Jericho. The Israelites had no military power apart from the Lord’s presence. They had no trained armies and no experienced generals.

Along the way from Egypt, the slave nation had picked up assorted weapons from the tribes they battled, but they could not wage war successfully against organized military powers—except that they had a secret weapon: the manifest presence of their God.

It wasn't long before the enemies of Israel learned their secret: with the Ark, the ex-slaves were invincible in battle. If the Ark could be captured, the Hebrews could be defeated. The tactic of every enemy became, therefore, to isolate and capture the Ark—the revealed presence of God.

Every principality and power of spiritual wickedness in heavenly places is afraid of the mighty presence of God and is powerless to attack us when He is near. Every enemy has to bow in His presence. “… Dagon had fallen on his face to the ground before the Ark of the Lord…” 1 Samuel 5:3 NASB

At the presence of the Lord of Hosts other gods fall. The manifestation of God's presence has a chilling effect on God’s enemies. Likewise, the manifest presence of God in your life will fight dark powers for you. His presence will destroy evil plots and ploys targeted at you. What believers in Jesus would not want that kind of protection?” (Excerpt from the book Encounter)

One tactic of the enemy in this season is to isolate and insulate you from the manifest presence of God. To keep you from encountering God’s presence; to keep you from gathering with your family of believers and worshipping God together with the musicians who celebrate His presence. Don’t let the enemy defeat you.

Do you feel isolated and cut off from God’s presence? You don’t need the church building, the worship team, or your pastor to encounter God. Today we are the ark or carriers of the manifest presence of God.

How the Israelites encountered their most precious treasure was with musical praise. “All Israel brought up the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps.” 1 Chronicles 15:28 KJV

Just like the Hebrews, the presence of God should be our most prized possession after salvation. God's manifest presence should be the center of our homes and the place we meet God face to face.

If you desire more of the manifest presence of God in your life, circumstance, or home fill it with the musical praise. God’s revealed presence is your treasure. It will encourage you and build up your confidence in God. Make His presence your most prized possession and most powerful protection.
